The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

For all the things that Matianak could be, and for all the things she was, the woman was quite patient. Waiting for Blackthorne was a minor thing with the tidbit of information she held. It wasn't a lot, but the knowledge held a great deal of weight. As she sat waiting, her ears would twitch at a stray sound coming from within the caves. Her back to the opening was practically a dare. Let some beast come, it would make for an interesting day. But just as nothing in the growing night struck out at her brother, nothing came for her either.

It was a shame really. Perhaps she could use a bit of an adrenaline rush. The grey female recalled what the wolf from Asteraia had said. Perhaps this winter she might seek him out and they could stay the snow with a bit of hunting fun. There were ample possibilities to muse as she waiting. Matianak's tail slid against the ground, sweeping from her left around to her right to wrap itself over her paws.

She knew her brother would come eventually. She also knew he would have been aware of her nearness when he had arrived in Diveen. Blackthorne skirting Glorall's borders would never go unnoticed. When he finally came within sight, her smile still played on her maw. Matianak inclined her head slightly, a feigned confused look, but they both knew better than that. "Ah, yes. Such is the life you lead now. It seems as though all of your business went without any bloodletting from what I can see," she said, her pale blue eyes scanning him from head to toe where he sat beside her.

"A great many things, brother. The plains are an intriguing folk, Eden and his machinations, litters of pups at home, your noble adversary," she said with a hint of glee. She knew that was the one Thorne would be most interested in. Matianak liked to play games with words, and there was truth in what she stated. All of these things were among those thoughts on her mind. Some were more interesting than others, but not all of them would be interesting to her half-brother. "I can certainly tell you bits and pieces of everything, if you'd like. But then I think we'd be here all night," she said, almost teasing. Matianak was more interested in seeing his reaction before she gave him what she knew he would want.
