“Of course,” Persephone replied with a nod of her head.

She knew herself it was wise to check up on your allies, and particularly your neighbours. She had much to discuss with Shamwari anyway, and was glad that he had arrived in order for her to share that information. At the mention of Talya, however, she saw that she had other matters to address first.

“She is doing well, thank you,” she answered, a fond smile creeping its way along her lips. The child provided most of the joy in her life these days. “She had her child just recently – she is as peculiar in motherhood as ever, but doing well and seems happy all the same. The youngster has Evaline to keep an eye out for her also, and the rest of us of course,” she added with a small chuckle.

“We are all doing well, thank you. I hope you can say the same for your herd?” she continued, tilting her head in honest concern.

Once she had ascertained how things were over in the Prairie, she turned her mind cautiously towards the rest of the news she wanted to share.

“We did have a little trouble over the winter, however. As my ally and friend I want to warn you to be cautious of the new man who rules the inlet – Warsaw. He tried to take Freya from my herd, a new mother – I am ashamed to say he bested me in battle, but I offered myself in her place rather than send Freya and her new-born child across those icy seas, so I spent some time there.” She paused a moment, allowing this information to sink in and to gauge Shamwari’s reaction to this news.

“He treated me well enough while I was there, but obviously I cannot trust him. He was oddly interested in my leadership, and when I spoke to Mariael while I was there she said the same thing. She wants to keep Tinuvel under her control, but I fear he will not bend easily. There is no formal conflict as of yet but… I just wanted to update you, and warn you to be prepared should Warsaw’s brand of trouble find its way to your doorstep.”
