The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

Yaay!! At long last, Spring had come again! I had been watching the snow slowly melting eagerly from my den and when the last pile had turned into a muddy goo, I cheered with joy. My friends would be returning! I waited for several days for the flowers of Glorall to sprout and grow in the warm sunlight. But... they hadn't yet. I lay next to a sprouting bud, it's small stem barely poking out of the sand. Soon, this would be a beautiful sunflower, but the wind made it hard for the poor thing to grow when it was constantly being buried in sand! I growled at the gusts as they endlessly dragged the waves of the ocean to the beach. I had been waiting for several moons to see my friends. I couldn't wait a moment longer.

Looking into the cave, I began to have second thoughts. There was wind here, too, but coming from the bowels of the darkness it seemed threatening. I just wanted to see some of my friends. The grotto was the closest place outside of Glorall, it seemed the best place to find them. However, it seemed even here, it was too early from the flowers to bud. Patches of snow still littered the groud, making me grumpy. I snorted at the nearest mound and turned my back to it as if it had personally offended me.

With a huff, I fell into a pile of wet, moldy leaves leftover from last autumn. At once, I was covered in the slimy things, but I didn't care. Maybe I was being impaient, but I hadn't seen my friends in so long. Maybe I was feeling a bit lonely. Either way, I had come all this way. I was going to see a flower! With a sigh, I gazed at the wall of a nearby cave. A long vine of ivy spread across the top. Along it's surface, tiny buds smiled down at me, as if teasing me. Alright flower, let's play a game. Who is going to give up first!
