The young glowing kalak like femme pranced through the trees as she had her first chance at freedom. Ellie never thought that she would actually have made it happen. With all the times she had tried, and failed, to get away from the others she felt that Hope would have been hovering over her for the rest of her life. But she had finally done it…she had a moment to herself and to explore the lands that she now lived in. The young kalak let out a giggle of excitement as she clung to her shell and ran further and further from the den. She felt unstoppable, like she could conquer anything in the world right now. She was not aware of any dangers or monsters in the world. None of that existed in her mind. Not right now anyways. She still had the naďve innocence of a young wolf. The world had not yet shown her how cruel it could be.
There was a yell in the trees from another small being, one that caught Ellie’s attention. Her large jet black ear tips perked up at the sound. Someone was in trouble and needed her help. Feeling like she could be a hero, Ellie turned to run in the direction of the yells for help. Her white glowing form shone off the sunlight. And then her violet eyes caught site of a unique looking pup in a predicament. Ellie did not yet know what “normal” wolves looked like. This pup was the first being she was going to meet outside of Hope and her siblings. He had hooves and horns just like a goat or sheep though! It was really cool and Ellie wondered if she would get those someday. Was she just too young and hadn’t grown these parts yet? Or was she not special enough to have them like he was. She saw how his horns had gotten caught in the branches above and his hooves had gotten his leg caught in the rocks below. It was a tough spot to get out of alone.
”Don’t worry, help is on the way!” She yelled out to get the male’s attention, wanting him to know that he would be safe soon. Panting, the skinny limbed femme reached the male, taking in the scene. ”Bend your head down, yah like that.” She encouraged him to slowing and carefully bend to where she could dislodge his horns as painlessly as possible. Her violet hued orbs then focused on the stuck leg below. She could see that he had cut his leg in the process of getting it stuck. ”I’m going to try not to hurt you, but I have to pull your leg out, okay?” Glancing to him, hoping that he was okay with her help, she grasped the skin at his hip, and pulled up at the angle that it appeared his hoof had gotten stuck, hoping that it didn’t make anything worse. Hoping that she was successful, she backed away panting. ”So…I’m Ellie. Who are you? Are you okay? I like your horns and hooves!” Her plume wagged behind her, leaving streaks of light as it waved in the wind. Excited to meet a new friend,
