My Philosophy is That Worrying Means You Suffer Twice

Emerald green paws scuffed at the ground as he wandered through the territory. The teen was growing restless again. He had grown so bored of sitting around all day. Scamander was supposed to stay within Dierne Hrof. It was safe here for him and the vampires couldn’t get to him. After the battle that broke out between multiple vampires and tempests he was told it was even more important. Unless he was accompanied by Vladimir, he was to stay safely tucked away. But he was so sick of it! This was not the life he had envisioned for him and the rest of the Arcus Irae when they broke free of their entrapment. What was the point if they were just going to be confined to another pack? There was no fun or adventure here. And that was what he craved. Scamander wanted to explore the world. To see everything there was to see and to learn all that he could. There was only so much that he could learn in one place. Already the male had memorized every inch of this pack. There was no area that he had not explored from top to bottom. And he wanted something new now.

Deciding to take a risk of both endangering himself and making Vladimir angry, he decided to go out on his own today. The brute woke before Vladimir, Seraphina, or any of the other pups and teens that shared the large den that the family made. He didn’t want to have to lie, the tempest would probably sense it in his aura anyways if he tried. So instead he just avoided speaking at all and snuck away before he could be told to stay. At first he walked carefully, quietly, making sure that he didn’t run into any of his pack mates. But once he was outside of the territory, he let himself explore more easily. His paws were heavy on the ground, not hiding his approach from anyone. After some time of this, he realized that he was scaring everything away. So Scamander began to tread more carefully once again, but this time to see what wildlife was out there. The air was warm on his multi-hued bright pelt and there were plenty of birds and little critters out and about. He had no desire to hunt right now, so merely just watched the creatures go about their lives. They had so much freedom to go and do whatever they wanted. There was no one telling them what to do or where they could and could not go. And Scamander found himself envious of those small mammals and birds.

After some time out in the summer’s heat, the male grew hot and thirsty and knew he needed to seek out some water. After aimless wandering he eventually heard the sounds of a stream. It turned out to be more like a river with how big it was when he arrived. The area he arrived at had a slow current, so he waded in. His emerald limbs swallowed up by the waters easily. Purple and yellow swirled fur quickly became saturated with water as he swam about, sighing as he felt the heat leave his body. The water was cool and refreshing, and he dipped his head under a few times to swallow the cool waters as well. As the male was carelessly swimming, unsuspected vocals reached his audettes. Yellow tipped ears perked at the sound calling to him, and he cocked his head. Was it really her? It had been so long since he had seen the vampire queen, and he thought that maybe he was dreaming. He swam back to the edge of the river and stepped out, shaking out his pelt from the water that had collected in it. Scamander could barely remember their last meeting it had been so long ago. But no matter how they ended, he was not the type to ignore a call. Especially one that was so filled with emotion as Diosa’s was.

Scamander carefully walked through the trees, taking a moment to collect his thoughts. What would Vladimir say if he knew that he had snuck away and was meeting with a vampire, the thing that the tempest so desperately was trying to keep away from him. But Scamander knew that vampires were not the cruel and evil creatures that the stories made them out to be. Sure some of them would be, but so were some other wolves that were not vampires. Anyone could be good or evil. It didn’t take the male long to reach the femme who had called to him, his fur still dripping with water from his swim. Purple and yellow orbs carefully met her bright red ones, questions in his own. ”Diosa? I didn’t think you wanted to see me again…” Scamander stayed a few paces away from her. Not because he was afraid of her, somehow he knew that she wouldn’t hurt him even though she easily could. But he didn’t want to intrude on her space, even though she had been the one that called to him.
