At Leisure Lake the sun is always shining and only a few stray clouds roam the open sky; paradise is the one word that really describes it. This beautiful lake is clean and refreshing, the very best place to swim and fish. Pups are known to play here while older wolves watch at the side, engaged in their own activities.

Hemming did not seem to believe her when she told him that the water was salty. He said he did not know that they were different types of water, and then moved over to the water and attempted to drink from it, which he quickly spot out. Now it was Giaza‘s time to laugh, giggling at his attempt. “Like I just said, it is salty! If you drink too much of that you will be sick… You won’t be able to stop throwing up and then you will have loose… Other stuff come from your back end… And then you will get dehydrated and you will die!” She giggled again before putting on a false pout. “And I simply do not do well with vomit. Or dead bodies. Nope nope nope!” She could only staunch her laughter for a moment or two before she broke out into full blown laughter again. “Well I don’t know if you will die, but it won’t be pleasant, nope, not one bit. And you will be sick. Which is no fun of course so you should just listen to me and not drink from the ocean. Duh!” For a brief moment, she had forgotten that he and she were different from other wolves. For second, they were simply just two pups hanging around, making fun. But the moment ended, and she returned to being morose about her whole situation, about her physical differences from other lupines.

The ocean… I do not know if it goes on forever… But it looks like it, doesn’t it? But then… How far is forever? As forever like… A few days away? Or like… A few years away? Can there really ever be a place that is endless?” She sighed and lowered her rump, forgetting just how difficult it had been to get into the standing position in the first place. And then… And then the subject had changed to be on those very deformities. Giazakisa had not been kind when judging their deformities. In fact, she had been quite brusque and harsh, but she did not miss it as Hemming winced at her words, seemingly personally affected by them. Which, of course, confused her. Didn’t he automatically feel the same way? Didn’t he hate himself for being so different, the way that Giaza herself despised herself? But as soon as he spoke, she realized that… That was not the case at all. He apparently thought that his current appearance was normal. Different, as in every individual of course looked different, but normal. Incredulously, Giazakisa shook her head, squinting her furrowed brows together in concern.

Don’t you think it is weird that we are meant to be carnivores and predators, and yet we wear the body parts of our prey upon both our head and our legs and our feet? Not only does it make us less efficient hunters, but it makes me a little messed up in the head. If mommy hunts down and kills a sheep she finds with horns like mine, then I feel like I am almost eating myself. Or really… Anything with hooves. Not that I have hunted yet or anything, because I have not. I am still too small… But anytime mom tries to feed me anything and I know it came from something with hooves, I can’t eat it. But I think that disappoints her… Mommy‘s favorite is moose and deer… And all things with cloven hooves. And I can’t eat any of it. So no… I don’t think it’s normal. I think we are freaks… Messed up, weird, freaks!

Now… now she knew that she had gone too far. She knew that what she was saying could be hurtful. After all, she was not just insulting herself, but Hemming too. And she suddenly started back peddling over herself. “Me. I meant me. I think I am a freak. Not you… There is nothing wrong with you. Or maybe there is. I don’t know. All I know is that I am not like my mom or my dad and I wish I had wolf paws and wolf legs just like any other wolf. I just wish I was normal.” Once again she tilted her gaze upward to focus on the jagged edge of the rock up above. She took one step, and then another, before leaping up to a nearby ledge. And surprisingly, she found that she had no difficulty navigating the rock at all. A smile curled over her face - at last, she would be able to get rid of her pesky horns. But then… Once again the stranger’s voice spoke to her, urging her not to cut them off. But past that, he commented that they looked good on her. Giaza snorted and reared her head back, but she still did not lose her balance. And that was when she realized that climbing like this would never have been as easy if she had paws. For a few moments, she remained silent, and then started slipping down, again having no difficulty navigating the difficult terrain.

I will… give them a second shot, I think. But if they cause me any more trouble… Off they will go. You have to promise to help you since you talked me out of it this time. Deal?” Suddenly, she felt lighter, and she laughed and smiled a little bit, and she realized it was because someone had finally truly accepted her for her. “So what do you want to do, Hemming? I should probably get back to my mommy and daddy’s pack in order to learn more stuff… Mom is always teaching us stuff. Although she says she is going to send us somewhere else soon to learn more stuff. What do you do all the time?
