For a moment, she thought it was a ghost haunting her. Her beloved brother's voice had faded into a distance memory, becoming an echo of her past. And yet there it was, as clear as the summer sky above her. Looking up from her meal, her bi-colored eyes met a mirrored version of themselves. A long moment of silence stretched between the siblings as Gaia tried to catch up with what was happening. Her body seemed to react long before her mind because tears of sheer joy were already spilling down her orange cheeks. While she had heard his voice, she had not heard the words.

The squirrel lay forgotten as the crème colored wolf moved closer. "Cae? Is it really you?" she whispered in disbelief. Then, without warning, she leapt up and tackled her brother in a wolfish hug. Her tail wagged wildly behind her as whimpers of pure delight escaped her throat. For just a moment, Gaia, was a child again. She nipped playfully at her brother's face as she coated him in licks.

Finally, she sat down again panting slightly as she looked Cae up and down. "I have missed you so much. Where have you been all these years?" she asked, the first of many questions that were to follow. It was only then that she noticed his gaze upon the half-eaten carcass. Eagerly, she grabbed it and laid it at his paws. "Eat, brother, please. If you need more, I will gladly hunt for you. The lands are plentiful with food this year."
