This is the place where the homeless come to remedy their situation, and Tarek knows this, though he is not here to make any claims today. He and this mare came here today seeking the same thing. Tarek has often been described by his peers as almost cat-like. He's usually quiet, somewhat aloof and independent. This is true, but he is also a horse. He does crave company in the form of other horses. There is safety in numbers, and he is not above needing a friend every once in a while.
Life as a bachelor didn't agree with him. He spent some time as a part of a bachelor group, but hung on the fringes, finding it difficult to bond with the other stallions. He just had nothing in common with them. Raised by a single mother, without a father figure, Tarek doesn't really know how to be a stallion. He just can't get into mounting mares for sport, and sparring for no real reason. He finds no pleasure in disturbing band stallions and tearing apart families. And while the stallions in the group often complained about the drama of mares, they were the the root cause of more drama than any group of mares he encountered. They were constantly trying to impress and outdo one another, as if every one of them were somehow insecure. Tarek thought their behavior brutish and immature. It wasn't long until he separated himself from them and chose to live a life of solitude. He's been alone for well over a year now, and he's ready to be a part of something else. As a social animal, he craves the support of others. He just needs different others than a bachelor band.
He doesn't know what it is that draws him to this mare in particular. She doesn't look like she's here to offer anyone else a home. Neither of them have anything tangible to offer the other one, but perhaps they can find what they're looking for together. Tarek sees her looking at him in his peripheral vision. She regards him briefly and seems to accept him. It is then that he decides to extend his muzzle in greeting.
