Hey Katie! Great idea to give an introduction! It's nice to get to know you, and I look forward to all our threads!
Here's a little about me:
I'm 30 years old (gosh I'm ancient), and I've been married for 6 years. My husband's just as much of a dork as I am.
We own an old house that we're trying to renovate. This often consumes large amounts of my time and creative energy.
I have a bachelor's degree in Biology. I currently work as a microbiology lab tech for a dairy herd improvement association. I do regulatory testing for finished products and milk permits. I also do pregnancy testing for ruminants, and use PCR (DNA testing) to identify bacteria in milk from animals with mastitis.
I work 9am-5pm, but I meet my sister at the barn to clean stalls by 7am on Mondays and Wednesdays. I ride after work on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Posting is likely to happen sporadically during the week because of how busy I can get.
I have three indoor cats. Salem and Harvey are 10 this year. Zelda is three. We are about to adopt two of our neighbor's outdoor cats. Bibbers and Tiger. Then I have a dog, a rottweiler mix, named Thunder. He's 11. And a Regent Parrot named Yzma who is 25 years old. I also own a 14 year old Shire/Thoroughbred cross mare named Ursula. We do ride, though not as often as we should... This is why we are both fat.
Ursula lives on my grandfather's farm with 5 other horses, all owned by family. There are 2 gypsy vanners, Ransom & Willie, 2 appaloosas, Foxy & Queen, and an OTTB, Marie. The horses share the barn with 3 cats, Gabby, Sassy, and Phantom.
I did once take lessons at a barn where there lived 3 Fjord horses, Zjeena, Rainne & Natergal. This is where Zjeena's name came from. Replies:
