Swimming is a simple exercise for Zjeena. Her round body is quite buoyant, and her little legs paddle her forward with purpose. She may not like how this whole situation has turned out, but this is only the first battle in the long war ahead.
This isn't over.
As they swim she is quiet. Gears turn inside her head, and a plan begins to take shape. Knowing the pride of stallions, she does not yet present this plan to Liland. She follows quietly and obediently, climbing ashore at his flank and moving inland at a pace that matches his.
She too, spots the stranger on the horizon. For just a moment her heart sinks and adrenaline levels rise, but then she realizes the stranger is a mare with a foal at her side. Zjeena does not underestimate the ferocity of mares, but acknowledges the shrinking likelihood of a conflict in this particular moment. Zjeena only listens to half of what her stallion says. She follows, but not at a distance. She remains at his flank and when he halts, she pulls up beside him. Her ears flip forward and her expression transitions from contemplative to amicable. She carries no fear, and a command equal to Liland's. Liland beats her to the punch, so Zjeena remains silent, waiting for the other mare the introduce herself first.
