It seemed the other stallion didn't feel like taking heed to his warning. Well, wasn't that his luck? He always seemed to find the pesky stallions who didn't know how to get lost or the mares who didn't know a good thing when they had it. He turned his head as the stallion approached, one ear flicking back in further warning as the corner of his lip curled to show a sliver of teeth. The stallion had a smooth voice, his sarcastic tone making Cain's skin ripple like a fly had landed on him. At his grin, Cain only snorted, though when the stallion chose to place himself between them, Cain took a quick step forward, enough to jostle the stallion without getting in the mare's space. Maybe other stallions let him get away with such antics but Cain was certainly not like other stallions.

As the stallion tried to insult the desert, Cain's eyes twinkled as he tilted his head, one brow rising. "For those not up to a challenge, it probably would be considered a hard place to live. You can speak for yourself, but I daresay you might be underestimating her." He gave the stallion a once-over and gave a little snort to show he was unimpressed before he turned to the mare. One ear stayed pricked on him as he gave his name as Rougaru, saying he was "lord" of Paradise. Cain couldn't help but roll his eyes. He wasn't a king or anything like that. These island stallions just got better and better. But as he set his gaze upon the mare, he could see that he'd found yet another proud female who thought stallions coming to claim her was something to reject outright rather than allow.

Why did they have to act so surprised that a stallion would come to claim them? Did they not know that the land they chose to come into was the claiming land? At her question, Cain's ears laid back and he was more forceful this time on shoving past Rougaru. "Afraid not, sweetheart. If he didn't take his time admiring his 'lordly' reflection in the water, then maybe he'd have gotten here sooner but as is my right, I'm claiming you for the Desert." He lunged, placing a firm nip on her flank as he then situated himself between her and Rougaru, staring him down in challenge. "If 'lord' Rougaru would like to fight for you, then that is his choice and at least then, you will know that he believes you worth fighting for. If not, then you'll know that you're just another number in the pool of mares he hopes to conquer and he just thinks he's entitled to everything he sees." His nostrils flared as he drank in Rougaru's scent, his sturdy frame braced in case the other was fool enough to attack.

One ear stayed on her as he turned his head just a little. "I would have been a little nicer about the whole claim thing but then again, maybe I wouldn't. Maybe I just don't like self entitled assholes." His lips curled into a sneer as he glared down Rougaru again. "By the way, pleasure to meet you, Leonid. I'm sure you'll find the Desert just fine. Warm and there are places for food and water, I assure you."
