Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

*~My Next Collison Course~*

He waited patiently as she took in everything he said and seemed to be watching his body language closely. She didn't look scared, per say, but she was definitely cautious, like maybe something had happened to her recently. Judging by the smell of blood on her, he had to assume it was as good a guess as any. He would have waited there all day for her to judge him as trustworthy. He just knew that he didn't want her to be scared, or feel that she wasn't safe here. He wanted her to know that he really cared about her wellbeing, even though he didn't even know her name. That was just how he was. Finally she gave an answer to his question of whether she was hurt, saying no and he felt his breath exhale in relief. So the blood wasn't her. But as she looked up and caught his gaze, she then said that she'd recovered from worse and he had to reassume that perhaps she did have wounds.

He could see by her humbled nature that she wasn't trying to brag or decieve. She was only stating facts. There was a darkness behind her gaze, almost like she was plagued by guilt over something but he had no idea what. He could only nod in acknowledgement, wanting her to know that he was listening. He believed her. It didn't make it right, what she was feeling. But for now, he would show that he was a good listener. The silence dragged on but it wasn't an uncomfortable silence, at least not to him. She shifted and her face showed pain. His brow furrowed again in concern but he forced himself not to step toward her in his urge to help. He didn't want to ruin what fragile trust she was giving him even by standing here talking to him. Suddenly something shifted in her face as she looked at him again and he tilted his head, trying to read her features.

At first, he thought she might be shifting toward fear but no, that's not what he saw shining in her eyes. Whatever it was, it didn't seem like a bad thing and so he allowed his lips to slowly tug into a small smile, something to reassure her, or at last attempt to. Then she spoke again, giving him a single word without explanation at first. His ears flicked back as he tried to understand, his tail swishing at his flanks but it didn't take long for her to continue. Her next words made his eyes widen in surprise. He hadn't expected something so dark from her lips, but then, he'd known whatever lingered behind those sad eyes, it wasn't good. He searched her features, trying to gauge if she was in shock still as she said it or if she didn't care. He could only guess that she did indeed care. Why else would she still wear the blood on her coat and look so defeated?

Had she already accepted the truth and knew she couldn't bring them back? This made his own chest tighten, his heart hurting for her simple truth. As her gaze lowered and her shoulders hunched, he knew then that she did still feel the loss. She just had no tears left to give. He wanted to go to her, to comfort her, but knew they weren't at that trust level. So instead he allowed his soft gaze to find his own hooves, wondering if she would feel more comfortable with the conversation continuing if he didn't stare at her face when he spoke. "You don't have to be alone anymore, that is, if you wish. I'm sure they wouldn't want that for you. Would you like to talk about it? Would that help?" He searched the ground as if searching her features, the same intensity of concern in his furrowed brows as his ears pricked toward her, waiting for her answer.

He wanted to help however he could. He just needed to know what she wanted, what she needed.
