Glorall

Disaster has struck!
Flooding from the north has taken its toll on Glorall. The large tides combined with the increase in water draining from the Ruieze River has flooded the lower regions of the pack. The sandy soil, compounded with so much water, has toppled a lot of trees. Traveling is difficult even when the water is shallower, with the sandy soil below being difficult to find traction on. The daily tides seem to keep the level of flooding fairly consistent, too.

During the low tide, wolves may be able to move around the higher dunes (with some difficulty) but during high tide, the pack is almost impossible to safely navigate. Swimming is possible, but the risk of currants and surges from either the ocean or the river are very real. The island off of the coast of Glorall is untouched by either issue, although it is incredibly difficult to find your way there without being an adept swimmer with plenty of good luck!

Note: Glorall will reopen once 30 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes. Glorall is currently not open for challenges.

what a curious life we have found

She had noticed his efforts to save her, as fleeting as they might have been. She liked it! It was flattering in a way, though she had a hunch he might not have been able to do much had she truly fallen. Still, it made her grin, though she shot her father a look to warn him off from intervening. Badar had learned early on that her father had a particular liking to stepping in where his daughter's were concerned - as independent as they were, Badar had always sensed a certain level of protectiveness from him that her brothers simply did not have.

In a sense, she had that protectiveness over him. To her, it felt that she had been partly responsible for him taking to the bridge in the first place, so it had been her duty to ensure he passed across it safely. That meant she was responsible for any injuries as well, so she didn't pull back from her search even as his ears flicked back. He was a wolf of few words, which was another thing she liked. It made it easier when a wolf already knew how to read body language, and in respond in kind. Though he spoke, she noticed the words were seldom those that required long-winded answers. Instead, she could respond easily with a look or a movement, and he in turn. Despite being relieved, she couldn't help but grin wider than it warranted. No, she wasn't just relieved, she was thankful and happy! Of all the children that might have taken the leap of faith onto the bridge, she had been fortunate enough that it had been one who could meet her on level ground.

He understood her question, which was good, but she didn't show that she was pleased. Instead, she continued to watch him intensely until he began to answer. When he did though, she could not stop herself. She blinked, bewildered at first, and then laughed. She laughed so hard, in fact, that she even managed to wheeze out the slightest bit of sound, a raspy sort of thing that might have the laughter of a fire. Smoky, harsh, but a laugh nonetheless. Is that what he had thought? She composed herself, bowing her head ever so slightly in an apology, before she grinned at him and shook her head. Well, maybe she had appeared like that, but surely he could have seen the danger, right? She sighed so hard that her shoulders rose up and then slumped down with the exhale. What kind of child had she managed to discover?

Though her reaction had been boisterous, she hoped he didn't mind. It was only because his answer was so honest, and so much like her own might have been. With that in mind, she bowed her head again, though not in apology. Instead, she lowered it was a sign of respect, eyes closed and ears back momentarily before she straightened. If he had that kind of brazen nature, then he was okay in her books. As for her father...

Well, his question made her snort as she looked back towards her father with a smirk. Well, her look said, what's a Fortitude, indeed? She nudged the boy, goading him just a little, as if to say go on, ask more! If Eden had been hoping to slide away from their guest, then Badar wouldn't let it happen yet. She had intended to send him away, but Cassiel had changed her mind. Badar knew her father never had to answer those kinds of questions, and she wanted to see just how he'd respond. In a sense, Cassiel had the ability to voice the questions she hadn't been able to translate herself.

She looked up at her father with feigned innoence, blinking and grinning as her tail waved behind her. She met Cassiel's eye then and gave him a small, upward nod - good one! She wondered if he had more questions that she might be able to pry out of him. Like, why Diveen and Glorall were so close, or why they could cross the river without being chased out? Even now, Cassiel hadn't really been reprimanded for 'trespassing,' and she was curious to why. Surely it wasn't just because he'd proven to be a little gutsy, or because Badar was around, right?
