PRIME MINISTER'S DECREE

"None." - Leader

The Offspring

Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

send me reeling

i’m on fire, again
His answer draws a slow, warm smile from Rhadra. Perhaps he does not consider himself holy, and perhaps neither will she, but there is a wisdom to Kestral that does not seem to be found in many, and a comfort in his presence that to her is remarkably rare. “That’s fair,” she replies, and lapses into the comfortable silence waiting all around them.

Her eyes drift skyward in search of the hawk called Keen. It is difficult for her to imagine being friends with a bird, and still strange to accept that a normal horse could accomplish such a thing. Kestral may be humble about his origins, and perhaps truly believe he carries no deified blessing, but there is much about him that transcends ordinary. Perhaps it is the effect of being one with the mountains. Will Rhadra, too, assume such an aura if she remains here?

She can’t tell if she is excited or alarmed at the idea.

Feeling flustered, an unusual state for her, Rhadra flicks her tail and shifts her weight and looks all about once more—this time keeping her eyes away from those great heights that await her. “Well, Kestral,” she says with a breathy exhale, then pauses a moment to get control of her suddenly staccato heartbeat with a few deep, measured breaths. “If I were to call on you, whereabouts should I look to find you here at the Peak?” Her voice is even, her breath and heartbeat steadied, but still she finds herself overwhelmed by the towering range. She would like to go away for a time and contemplate this majestic place with only herself to distract her, for at the foot of it she’s finding it a little hard to think.

Rhaadra knows she will be back, of course. It’s fear that’s distracting her now, all this newness of Someplace filling her with apprehension about the unknown, about putting her feet on the slopes of this thing so much greater than herself as if she deserves to traverse it, but with a little time and distance she will recover her self-confidence and eventually make the hike. It is only soil and stone, after all.

Rhadra
