The Grotto

Disaster has struck!
Years ago, an earthquake broke open several entrances into a deep, winding series of subterranean systems. It was thought that deep below, underground rivers snaked their way below Moladion. Now, flooding in the Northern reaches of Moladion has proven this theory to be true.

The Grotto is almost entirely submerged. Many of the entrances are completely inaccessible, and those that are only extend a few hundred feet before ending in water. The lower entrances, however, act almost like a giant drain for Moladion. Water pours down into the Grotto's maw as powerful rapids and waterfalls, and large amounts of debris have build up throughout the area. It can be exceptionally dangerous to travel due to the risk of flash-flooding and dams suddenly breaking, but the Grotto does offer the most consistent access across the floodwaters because of those dams.

Note:The Grotto will return to normal once 25 posts have been completed (or at Staff discretion). During this time, new threads will receive a 'Surprise','Disaster', and prizes.

these violent delightshave violent ends

Cooler temperatures are following quickly on the tail end of summer; already there is relief to be found. Finding Blackthorne Darkbringer has occupied more of her time than she had initially assumed. Since their convergence she’s been laying low in the shade and solitude of Moladion’s subterranean realm.

Within the past few days she’s seen sunlight only through small crevices and pinholes that stretch far enough to reach the surface. She’s delved into deep chasms that most were too frightened to attempt and has come out on the other side with more power, more knowledge given to her by and of this underworld.

In her isolation she dwells on thoughts of her present being, wondering why she feels a deep, gaping hole of dissatisfaction in her life. Introspective thought has led her to believe that falling from such a prominent position in her past life leaves her wanting for more out of this one; though from what she remembers… it all comes with a cost.

She had found something so very far in these caverns. Something of ancient blood, long forgotten and left to die from all other memories. It had called her down, further and further, so far that she had thought she was no longer within Moladion itself, in a darkness so black that all sense of self was lost. It promised things she desired before she even knew that she wanted them. And now that she has a taste there is little else that will satisfy her.

Reluctantly and in a near dream-like state she makes her ascent to the surface world, finding an entrance to the dark labyrinths where another is already stationed. She stopped as he stared into the shadows that cloaked her swarthy figure. It was difficult to tell if he could truly see her or if he was off-put by the sound of her approach. However, he moves quickly away and upward onto a small ledge and out of her sight.

”Why are you afraid?” her voice reverberates in the darkness as she calls him out.
