She didn't spend much time with her father but then she didn't spend a lot of time with adults in general. She'd even pretty much kicked her mother to the curb when she no longer needed her milk to sustain her. Adults were boring most of the time. Sure, her mother was still young enough to play with her and so did her father on occasion but as her mother grew heavy with foal again, she didn't play as much and Medusa learned to turn elsewhere for entertainment. She had mapped out pretty much the whole herdland of Paradise but the borders were closing in on her more and more every day. She wanted to get out more past the borders and see what there was to see in the world but her mother made her promise not to venture out into the ocean until she turned one. Usually Medusa wouldn't mind breaking her word but this seemed important to her mother so it was the one promise she was okay to keep.

Spring was right around the corner and she couldn't wait to hit that surf and never look back. Of course she didn't plan on running away or anything like that. She just wanted to explore some more, see if she could meet some other fillies and colts her own age. Then she could really start some trouble! The chuckle was her first clue that she was no longer alone, a single ear flicking back as she snorted in challenge and turned to face her company. The gleaming green eyes gave her father away and she sneered playfully as he moved up to her, his nicker falling on pricked ears as she swished her tail and waited to see what he wanted. She enjoyed spending time with her father but he wasn't one to seek someone out unless he had something in mind. He reached for her tail and she threw her head up with a defiant squeal in response, kicking out one back leg in retaliation as she gave a few bucks and arched her neck, running a tight circle around her father before turning to face him once more.

At his words, she scowled thoughtfully before shaking out her mane. "I need to wait till they scatter. Then they'll be easier to herd out. Right now they're still all grouped up and I don't want to have to shove the adults out of my way just to get to them." She sounded almost sulky as she complained about the difficulties of making new friends. She stomped her tiny hoof in irriation just thinking about it. Sure, she was excited to have new foals on Paradise, but why didn't they go out alone to see the place? When her father moved away at a prance, she reared up before launching after him, her smaller body having to canter to keep up with him but she didn't mind. He began to speak again, layering on the compliments and instantly her brow furrowed in suspicion. Her eyes narrowed and her nostrils flared. What's the catch?

When he slowed down, she did as well, if only to continue to give him the eye. She felt if she glared long enough, she could will him to tell her exactly what he wanted cause now she KNEW he wanted something from her. Why else would he be buttering her up? His next words had her head jerking up in surprise. A suitor? She hadn't heard of this. But then it hit her. That older colt that came to Paradise and spoke to her father. She heard her name but couldn't make out the rest they were saying. She was trying to eavedrop but couldn't get close enough to make it out. Her ears flicked back as she took it all in. He came here...specifically for her? She didn't recognize the colt and he smelled foreign...like another island. Her father sometimes smelled faintly of the same place when he would leave to speak to his allies.

She blinked up at her father as he said the colt's name was Ironclad. Her head tilted as she processed everything. He said the island was called Tinuvel and she would like it there. It was a lot different than Paradise. She glanced around, as if wondering how anywhere could be so different. His gaze grew more intense as he said he had to speak to her mother but that he hoped she would agree. She snorted at that, her own face growing serious as she raised her head and straightened. "I am almost a yearling, Father. I can make my own decisions now." Besides her mother had another child to be worried about in the coming months. Medusa felt she was more than capable of taking care of herself. And she was sure she was more than capable of handling this Ironclad as well.

Her father's gaze swept across the horizon and for a moment, she really studied his features. Was he sad about it? Would he miss her? She had no doubt she would think of her time here and her parents but it wasn't like she would be a prisoner there. The way she saw it, she could come and go as she pleased wherever she went. Her ear flicked as he spoke again, telling her she would honored there, a princess just as she was here. Her eyes twinkled with mischief at the thought of going somewhere new and already with power in her grasp. He said he would visit often and for a moment, she softened, moving toward him to push her head and neck into his chest, breathing in his scent. "I know I will miss you and Mother, but it is time I move on from here. I won't let you down, Father." Taking a step back, she looked back up at him. "When do I leave? Will he come to escort me or do I have to go by myself?"

She felt like it was only right he escort his betrothed but maybe Tinuvel felt differently about the matter. She had no problem going by herself but its not like she would know for sure where she was supposed to go. She might end up lost on another island than he would have to come hunt her down. A smirk tugged at her lip. That would serve him right.
