i'll let the bad parts in,

Everything had been a blur. Even as she plodded along the path to nowhere, she felt as if the world around her hadn't yet come back into focus. On the edge of her vision, she could see the light shimmering, as if a veil had been draped over the world. Her head ached in sync with her body too; restless, yet exhausted. Each time a hoof met the ground, she could feel a lick of pain from the ground to her head.

It had been days since she'd finally left the beach, or so she had thought at least. Since she had left, she'd been in a trance of sorts: she walked, she ate and drank, but she hadn't really thought. How long ago had she left the mainland for the islands? She and her companions had entered the sea intending to find the Islands, but she'd awoken to find herself alone. She had waited, but nobody had come for her. Had she even found the islands? She'd set off with that question in mind, and the tiniest flicker of hope that her friends had washed up elsewhere just like her.

Suddenly, she stopped. Her head lifted up, a sudden clarity in her features as she glanced about. Clarity quickly became uncertainty though, a sudden awareness that she'd managed to travel so far without being completely aware of the where she had been headed towards. Cold had started to bite at her, sending a shiver up her spine as her skin twitched and prickled. Somewhere in there, she'd felt more fear than cold. All around her, the world shimmered in and out of making sense. Where was she, and why had she come at all? Why had she left the beach, the mainland, for some place like this? She shook her head and bit down on her teeth in an effort to force back a deluge of emotion that threatened to pour out of her. It was too late for regret, wasn't it?

No matter what, she'd have to keep pushing forward. With a slow step, that's what she did. On and on, she'd have to keep going until something made sense.

we all live in a kind of continuous dream
