Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

Make 'em bow, one by, one by one...

In her silent, restless travels to expand her knowledge of the world she had been forced and abandoned in. The Hellridge swam across the river, shaking out the coat that was beginning to thickened with the coming of winter and the death of the leaves around her. It was almost as if her blood knew that she would need extra protection while she grieved her mother and everything else she had lost. When Hepzibah had been alive, she was able to use her mother's strength to carry on. If she was still moving, still breathing then Sorath could do it as well but now she was alone. Sorath licked her front legs in a vain attempt dry them but the fruitless endeavor was soon abandoned for the sight of the endless sea of grasses that stretched as far as her blue eyes could see.

She inhaled slowly, relishing the feeling of being very small in the wide expanse that she found herself in. The smell of other wolves lingered here and there but they were mostly stale. She instead perked up when she caught the scent of a rabbit. Her stomach growled at the smell and she followed it slowly, trying in vain to be silent like her mother and silently cursing herself with every crunch of grass underneath her pads. She paused when she saw the rabbit. It was on the smaller side, perhaps like her it had survived it's first year. Sorath almost thought of letting it be but the coming winter gnawed at her and her she lowered her body into a stalking position. She moved slowly, and then gathered her hind legs underneath her and pounced! Only to watch the rabbit dart through the tall grass and disappear. She growled in frustration and then shook it off.

But the cool fall breeze brought another smell across her nostrils, and the blue eyes now scanned above the grasses for the origin. Friend or foe? Sorath did not seem to care and was ready to take on whatever came her way. Any feeling other than sorrow was a weclomed change.
