The challenge cry from the two year old of Tinuvel was enough to sour his stomach but he would gladly go meet the call and fight to keep Cerosi where she wants to be. If she asked to leave, he would let her in a heartbeat but it sounded like the young stallion hadn't even asked her to join him. Did he really think he would gain her favor by fighting the stallion giving her sanctuary? Cain shook his head at the ignorance of youth, giving a snort as he got ready to go see to the battle. But a new whistle gained his attention instead, ears pricked as he took in the familiar voice of Berit. A soft smile graced his lips at the thought of the pretty sooty mare. She seemed to need his attention for something and he was only too glad to indulge, making his way toward her at a ground eating canter over the sand. It pulled at the feathers on his legs but his muscles had adapted to the deep sand and his saucer-like hooves did better at keeping above the sand than through it like more nimble footed hooves.

He didn't understand, honestly, how the slender horses did it, dancing and gliding over the dunes like there was nothing to it. One would think their tiny hooves would just disappear in the sand. Shrugging it off, he slowed only when he caught the unfamiliar scent of someone with her. Someone new. Intrigued, He arched his thick neck and flared his nostrils, tasting the air as he came over another dune and the two came into view. The mare with her was solid black in color and shorter but not pony-sized. Her face looked young and she seemed happy and curious to be in Berit's company. He took that as a good size, a smile tugging at his own lips as he gave a gentle nicker of greeting as he got closer. His pace slowed to a trot then a walk, not wanting to spook the black mare as he dipped his head politely before stopping a few feet away. He knew mares didn't like to be crowded so he gave her distance, his warm gaze sweeping over Berit with joy to see her all in one piece and no worse for wear.

He didn't mind his mares going out exploring on the mainland and elsewhere as long as they were careful. He'd hate to have something happen to them and he not be there to protect them. The tobiano was glad Berit wanted to go out and invite others here to her home. That made him think she was genuinely glad to be here and wanted to share her home with others. "Hello, welcome to the Desert. I'm Cain." He greeted the mare warmly before turning his gaze to Berit. "And welcome home, Berit. I see you met someone on your travels." His eyes twinkled teasingly for her before he suddenly gave a short snort and stomped a back hoof in warning. Twisting his head around, he smirked at the culprit, a black colt's head sticking out from under his tail where he'd just been biting and pulling on it. Carbon laughed and danced out from under his father's tail, his growing body glowing in the sun as he tossed his head and lunged out playfully to nip at Vulcan's hide as he came past.

"Gonna get you!" He cried out in excitement, before pulling himself up short when he noticed that Berit was back and had someone new with her. His eyes widened in surprise for a second before he gave a gasp and danced on his tiny hooves, his lips tugging into a huge grin as he looked at the stranger. "Hey, you're black just like me! I'm Carbon! What's your name?" He marched right up to her and head out his head to sniff her, his body tense in case she tried to retaliate for him getting in her space. He knew it wasn't good manners, as Berit had showed him many a time, but he felt he was agile enough to get away with it if he was quick.
