We found each other in the dark

Through the black starless water,
And the cold lonely air. On the rock restless seas.

The feathery, cream-colored stallion was hardly her type. He was wide, boxy. Not overtly handsome in the classic sense. But she was charmed by the way he talked to her. There was no pretense in his words, as far as she could tell. Not like Solomon and others, whose charisma dripped from their lips but was laced with venom - there was always an edge, an angle to play. Tavas didn't find herself second guessing her own words as she settled into conversation with him.

But before long, the hoof beats of another fill her yellow ears, and Tavas snaps her head to one side. Her gold-flecked eyes settle on the familiar painted form of Solomon, and her heart sinks. He is staring her down in his usual sort of way which feels both predatory and lustful. She stiffens somewhat, her dished head coming to rise high over her withers as he settles himself into their gaggle.

Tavas offers Kendry a short, sympathetic glare before returning to Solomon. She smiles uneasily at him. "Hello, Solomon." She offers, and nickers warmly nevertheless. Her blonde tail flicks anxiously over her haunches as he quickly surmises what she is up to. She can feel a flush of heat rise to her cheeks and her stare drops to the brittle grass between their hooves. In this instant, Solomon makes her feel childlike, as if he is scolding her for deciding to take charge of her own future. She again feels that sense of deep-rooted regret beginning to bubble to the surface.

"Perhaps..." She says coyly to the painted brute, as Tavas musters up the courage to hold her own in this conversation. "But you seem quite busy for me these days. I'm not the type to get buried... among a sea of many." Tavas understood Solomon's interest in her - she was a powerplay of sorts - not only was she young and ripe, ready to produce foals for him, but her royal bloodlines meant she was capable of producing heirs.

Much to her relief, the heavy-set stranger chimes in next with a short quip about Tinuvel. Her eyes flick to him at his question, and she bobs her head once in confirmation. "Yes, the Inlet." She offers honestly. "Never too cold. It's just... where I grew up." He mentions Luthien and her interest piques. Tavas had family on Luthien, and she was born in the Prairie, but hadn't visited since he was just a filly. She wouldn't even know where to start, should she ever return there.

He introduces himself and Tavas commits the name Kendry to memory with a gentile smile. "I'm Tavas." She offers sweetly in reply.
