addendum

1) I think that while political means are still used on TLI, I would have to agree that they are not used very frequently in order to acquire and keep territories.
My speculation would be that this is due to the ranking system . Even if a territory is acquired peacefully, it then becomes important to "level up" the owner ASAP so they
do not immediately lose it to another within a month. Alliances don't really seem to balance out this need enough, though I'm not suggesting the ranking system be removed.
Perhaps some rule tweaks could up the benefits of alliances?

2) Playing off my last answer a bit, I definitely feel like governments would be utilized more if there was some benefit to them. One suggestion I would have is
that for islands under a "united"-type government, they can utilize alliances from their island more effectively. IE: if Luthien is an oligarchy, Rille could call
on Shamwari not just to take his place in one turn of a challenge, but to fight beside him throughout the entire battle. Two on one, essentially - but averaging
the scores of the two allies. I realize this isn't necessarily easy in terms of realism, but on the flip side, two on one battles do happen in the wild.

Ideas for other benefits of this suggestion:

In a Autocracy, an island's King/Queen can force one of his subjects to aid in battle.

In a Monarchy, an island's King/Queen can be assisted by their heir in battle, and both receive full XP.

3) Yes, if only because without judging battles based on grammar and spelling, I feel that the outcome becomes even more subjective. Obviously, grammar
and spelling are the one constant; without them I worry about people losing too many points based solely off a different writing style or maybe not being
as realistic due to unfamiliarity with the anatomy/behavior of horses. I have never owned a horse and unfortunately have never really gotten to
interact with them closely, so it took me quite awhile to get the hang of RPing them!

4) I think TLI is ready, even though I have no interest in leading or even co-leading another territory at this time :)

5) I love the idea of random events giving XP.

6) I worry about giving the Peak and Lagoon too much power, so I feel that if they have an increase in challenges that they can issue, it would have to be
balanced by something like a similar increase in the number of challenges they can receive.
