The girl was definitely spirited, but he wouldn't give up so easily. He needed this victory and one way or another, he was going to have it. She tried to outrun him but he kept pushing through the burning of his lungs and the dull ache in his legs. He would run till he collapsed if it came down to it, but he was pretty sure the filly would tire out first. Instead, she whirled around to face him at the last minute and he couldn't stop himself in time to keep from hitting her. His chest hit her shoulder and he grunted as she pinched her lips together. She looked to be obviously in pain but apparently she was going to blame him. Her teeth snapped toward his face and he staggered back, ears still flat to his skull as she screamed at him about how it hurt. He growled. "Your fault." If she hadn't skidded on the brakes, he wouldn't have run into her, simple as that. One ear twitched as she looked down at her shoulder as if surveying the damage. She seemed displeased with what she saw, but Alpha saw nothing worth noting. She wasn't bleeding or anything or what was her problem? Then she started scolding him, something about why he was so mean, how they could have been friends. He scowled and shook his head. "No friends." He was going to be a herd stallion. He couldn't afford friends. He had a herd to look after and a territory to defend. What she called mean, he called defending his right to lead and claim her. When he once again tried to explain that she was his, she flicked her tail and said she wanted to find her mom. For a moment, his mind went to work. Another mare? Could he get them both to join his herd? But then he risked losing both if he just allowed her to go find the mare. He glared at her for a long moment before snorting and tossing his head. He straightened up. "Where?" It came out more a demand than a question. Where was her mother? He would go with her and find her then claim them both. He couldn't just trust the girl to go off on her own. She might get claimed by someone else or escape entirely. He couldn't allow that.
