Ruieze Fields

Open fields and soft grass...
Ruieze stretches far in the midlands of Moladion, laced with streams that feed into Diveen and out of Asteraia at times. The fields are vast, filled with wildflowers and tall, soft grass; trees are sparse, as are rocks, but one can find small shrubs to hide amongst, and the grass itself. To the south of the fields, a Ruieze River widens, and the ground becomes sandy. There is a small, grassy island that can be reached from the banks, with water-birds often congregating on the island rather than the riverbanks.

come with me,
the vast unknown awaits for us to see
something so deeply hidden, yet open before our eyes
Auri had been pleasantly surprised to find hospitality on the edge of Asteraia. The loner had disturbed the peace of the pack and for a few tense moments she expected to die where she stood. But, the black beast had been welcoming, almost friendly. They two females had lay together on the crest of a hill where they watched the horizon and the movement of father sun together. Her mauve eyes had watched the wolves roaming the hills in the near distance. She had looked up to her larger compatriot and felt envy. But it wasn’t jealousy for what they, as family and pack, had built together. It was a longing to see her own family. Her gentle face didn’t portray her deep sorrow, but her heart was breaking in two beneath her ribcage.

Before she could dwell on it too much, she had spotted a dark male slowly walking the crest of a hill. Auri had shifted to take a better look at him. So intrigued by his presence that her moment lapse in judgement had almost caused her to fall down the slope next to her dark mistress. The little fawn girl had caught herself before she had caused further embarrassment to herself that day. Turning her soft purple eyes back to the black female she smilled sheepishly and nodded. “It’s getting late, my friend,” she whispered softly, turning her attention to the inky blackness above them. She could hardly see the stars on that cloudy night which made her heart whimper. “Thank you for your kindness, but I have stolen enough of your precious time.” Her eyes had strayed back to that hill where she had last spotted that dark male. To her disappointment, he had moved on. Licking her lips and swallowing, she felt a little guilty. The black female had invited her to lay by her side for a bit and her eyes had strayed to a very handsome stranger. Auri had scratched the back of her ear awkwardly, for all she knew that could have been her host's mate or son. The little starlight wanderer had no intention of breaking apart a family, she would rather make her own.

Auri had slept peacefully that night, just outside the borderline of Asteraia. It was nice to have a safe harbour after two years of exploring. However, she was not the type to take kindness for gratitude and she wanted to leave before she outstayed her welcome. Her rest had been disturbed by the sound of fang on fang in the far distance. Auri took that as her que to leave. Stretching out, she dipped her head to the north and prayed the black beast could feel the respectful senitement the small gaelic girl carried in her heart. “I will remember you,” she whispered with a gentle smile, “once a friend of the starlight pack, always a friend in our hearts.” With that blessing she turns her body towards the south and starts to leisurely trot through the long grass.

For a while she is sailing peacefully, allowing thoughts to flow through her mind as the breeze whistles softly past her ears. Climbing the ridge of a hill she pauses on the summit. Her eyes fall upon the river cutting through the land. Sister river is glowing gold in the morning sunlight. “Óró 'sé do bheatha 'bhaile!” She calls excitedly before racing towards the river banks. Being so lightly built, she was fast with a low center of gravity. When she was a child, she often got to play the part of the rabbit. A grin flashes on her teeth as she runs. Yes! She was the fastest little speck of stardust, no one could catch her! No one could trick her. She had and always will be her fathers little princess. “Father …” she sighs.

A single lapse of concentration is all it takes for her pleasant morning to shatter and crumble around her. She feels her long front legs slam into something solid beneath her. The forward momentum causes her to stumble and stagger forwards and down. Before she has had time to process what’s just happened her head and most of her upper half slams straight into a large mud puddle. Gurgling, tail swaying back and forth for balance, she digs in her hind paws and pulls herself free from the wallow. Spitting and gagging she turns around and shudders, “What the heck did I hit…” whipping a muddy leg across her face she clears the dirt out of her eyes. “Oh-my,” she stammers barely able to breathe let alone talk. For a few awkward moments she is, gawking at him.

“Forgive me,” she smiles sheepishly at him, “I didn’t see you there.” She states dumbly, mud still dribbling from around her dainty face and shoulders. She feels her chest burning with embarrassment. This was not the first meeting she had dreamed about last night. “I’m Auri,” she yips like a teenager, “are you hurt?” Her head tilted in genuine concern, but she knew very well that her face probably hurt more than his chest, back, head or whatever it is that she had run into. Wow, he was solid!
