Use caution when the Wolf comes aknockin;

From the moment his eyes laid on her that day on the path leading into the Harbor, Rougaru had known that Nasa was different from most of the mares that he had ever met. There was a sense of mystery about her, a depth to her nature that he felt certain that even a thousand years would not bring him any closer to knowing the truth. She had been young and inexperienced that day when together they had wandered the twisting paths and strolled with leisure down the white sand beach. In her, he found companionship, but never was there a need to possess with the same fierce intensity as he and the beast often shared with other mares. Nasa was a creature apart and that carefree spirit was what made her special.

The smile on her dark lips is gentle and genuine. A smile that softened the beast inside him and brought his own soul forward. Ears rotate backwards as she agrees to join him, as a broad grin slides into place. Politely he steps aside so that she can walk down the narrow trail without having to trouble herself with his encroaching presence. ”So tell me Nasa, where did your travels lead you when you left the Harbor?” he asks, genuine curiosity lingering in the tone of his voice. For so long he has been caught up in strengthening his herd and protecting those that called Paradise home, that he almost forgot about the world beyond the islands. There was a time in his youth, where it was the islands that were a mystery to him, a torment to plague his mind until the young wolf made the plunge into the ocean to discover the origin for himself. That was long ago and it has been many years now since he decided to heed the island’s call and return, turning his back on the home that he had once known. Himena had been the first casualty that he knew of, but how many others? Did the forest that had been his home beyond the mountains still exist? Did his family? The thoughts plagued his mind for years, popping up at random occasions but never taking more of his memory than necessary. Nasa’s return gave him the opportunity to find out more about the world he left behind, not that he intended to return to it, but still, it was nice to know where the darkling mare disappeared off to when she left Atlantis behind her.

Kaari speaks now, dipping her head bashfully at his praises and thanking him with a soft upward turn of her dark lips. Emerald eyes glisten as he chuckles warmly and reaches out to brush his ashen muzzle against her russet shoulder in passing. ”You don’t need to thank me dearest, I speak honestly.” Deep within his breast, the wolf croons with joy, it's pale gray tail wagging furiously back and forth. She moves in step alongside him, her dainty feet leaving small impressions next to his own saucer-like hooves. Her next words draw his gaze. ’Did you look for me?’ the answer was a hard one to form. Ashen lips pressed together as the chocolate stallion arched his thickly muscled neck to gaze to drop his multifaceted gaze to meet hers. ”I did not know about you. I searched for your mother but by the time I made it to the Harbor, her scent had long since faded. I hoped that our union might result in a child but I… I did not know for sure.” he murmurs softly, touching her cheek affectionately. ”But I am glad you both managed to return to me. Tell me, what beautiful places have you seen of this world? I bet you have traveled farther than I ever did.”
