Diccon (Cicada x Khar'pern)

Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

HEROES GET REMEMBERED

Anath doesn’t necessarily know what to make of the painted mare. She carried herself with a confidence that was hard to fault, at least. The champagne mare’s study of Oswin was quick enough, for now. The living legend didn’t feel the need to conceal her study, either. Not necessarily staring, but open in the way that she was assessing the painted mare. Looking at her, but also through her to a degree. What was the girl made of? Only time would tell.

“I am sure the Peak has gotten on fine without me, but it’s good to be home.” For the first time in recent memory, Anath was able to relax. Her heart had calmed in her chest, and was instead the same old brag. After all the time in the world away from this place, she was still grateful to call it home. The Peak was something that Anath had seen in her dreams, rising through the clouds. Her mountain would always call her home.

The first queens of the Islands-- that had a ring to it. Anath had never considered herself a queen, or even really a leader. A fearsome general, a warlord, the ferocity of which was unmatched by anyone… man or woman. Things had been different in the old days. Things had been different in the old world. Since those days, the balance had shifted and power was something different between men and women. Being able to fight as she had carried different weight, and she’d never shy from it.

Oswin’s remark about her daughter surprised Anath, rather genuinely. “Bane is still here?” With a pang, she thinks of Stratton as well. Had it been wrong to separate the pair of twins? Likely. It wasn’t like Anath had any other choice. Hell, she’d barely had it in her to raise Bane as she did (barely.) (Poorly.) (Anath had never been any good with children.) What would she even say to her daughter now that she was grown? After all these years, Thane’s daughter was a stranger.

Some of the strength was returning to the champagne mare’s bones, and with it came the urge to move. Being stationary for too long had always made her itch, nearly to the point of crawling out of her own skin. “Walk with me up the mountain, and maybe I have a story or two that I can share.” Best that she not go on her own, lest she tumble from the side. “What would you like to hear?” Turning on her haunches, Anath was already moving. Couldn’t stay still for too long.
