Tell me a story...

&Evalyn.
she's a fighter with no one beside her

A creature came into view and Evalyn tensed for but a moment as the dark form solidified until the winter haze broke and clearly showed the ebonite equine as he approached. The smell of testosterone filled the air and she had mere moments to contend with the possible threat that might come with it. She wasn't one to assume that the world was ending just because she was in a dangerous position. She was someone more practical than that, with perhaps a small dose of hopeful naivety with it. She forced herself to remain relaxed, pretending to both herself and this stallion that this was completely normal for her and she had absolutely nothing to be worried about. He was rather large in comparison to her own small form. If she'd been one to assume the worst, there were a range of possible negatives that could come with his obvious strength and her presumed lack of. What if it wasn't exactly violence that was in his nature? What if he was a different type of monster? Though looks did not attest to demeanor, the black tint to his coat added to a slightly foreboding aura to her already runaway thoughts. What was she thinking? She was pragmatic. She would face whatever came with a calm, cool head. Wouldn't she? Her thoughts alone betrayed that she was panicking. Her own internal monologue was usually just as quiet and calm as her external one. She'd only just come to the conclusion that she was, in fact, panicking when she heard him utter "Sorry,".

Sorry? His teeth barely skimmed her coat. Confused, she peered at the spot for a moment before realization dawned. "Oh.." She muttered softly, as she blinked the confusion from her blue gaze. Well now, worse things could have happened, couldn't they? "It's not safe here,". Well, she'd figured that out early on, she mused. "Let me take you from the cold." He moved to her side and she found herself peering up at him, his size suddenly more noticeable than it had been on his approach. Her nose twitched as she peeked in the direction he had gestured and dipped her head just slightly to acknowledge it. The cold had already seeped far too deeply into her bones and at the moment she'd give just about anything to rid herself of it. She considered taking a step, despite her shaking limbs protestations. Her heart was still for the moment, so she took a small breath and moved in the direction he suggested.

She was quiet as they walked; introspective of her position and just what she had to look forward to in these strange lands. Within minutes of her arrival she'd been near frozen and claimed just moments after, though to be fair that was what usually happened with unattended mares in common lands even where she'd grown up. She flicked her tail, the white tendrils moving rigidly as small pieces of ice fell from the snow colored lengths. Would it really be so bad to have a home here? If it was a place she could quietly disappear and be alone or perhaps help with the foals, it couldn't be so bad. She'd never considered needing much more in a home. She already knew that love existed, for she'd seen it in her parents. For herself, though, she'd always assumed she would remain in her fathers herd, which left little possibility of having her own young or a potential mate. She could certainly be content in caring for a new herd as she had her old. Really, if Evalyn was good at anything it was keeping things together for everyone else while she pretended she wasn't half broken herself. "I-... I'm Evalyn." She offered quietly, glancing up to the dark stallion as she drew to a stop. She'd never really been much for words. Quiet laughter and few words of consolation were typical for her. Her eyes cast down to her pale hooves as the awkwardness set in. She didn't know what to say or to do, so she watched her hooves for a moment before looking back up to the stallion, hoping he was more accustomed to this than she was.

in a corner alone on the ropes;
she's a letdown away from a terrible place
she'll fix every scar but her own
