You're not listening closely to Biden. He didn't decide, he flat out said we have INTEL and he's not talking about it. I expect we have been routinely breaking their military communications for years, if not their orders in and out of the Kremlin itself. Possibly a spy or two or three or four.
They do the same to us. Biden revealed the plans primarily because Russia's been doing false flag opeations like the car bombing yesterday in Donetsk, trying to have the seperatists drum up an excuse to invade there. Thats the border city from where I mentioned we met the Ukrainian dozen who visited KC a couple years ago. Its right across the border from mother Russian territory.
I was frankly surprised when Biden was asked by a reporter how he came to believe Putin had decided on an invasion and he actually said, we have good intel, but of course he didn't elaborate on sources and methods. He was trying to end run the Russian ploys and get Americans the hell out of there, which didn't happen in AFghanistan until it fell to the Taliban.
I'm watching this very closely because I have close kin behind what was formerly the iron curtain. But Belerus will be next and that's north of Ukraine and they're pretty close to Putin anyway.
I'm of the view that the west will not risk an escalatable ground war to stop Putin from reconstituting the Soviet Union. He's been firm and explicit that he won't tolerate Sister Ukraine joining NATO against him. The west has resisted that categorically.
Don't be doing the usual Trumspster trashing of Biden...none of this is his fault. Putin would have done it without invading under Trump, his useful puppet idiot, but we threw Trump out for Biden. Our presidents have never had much affect on Putin's strategic plans to take back what Gorbechev gave away years ago.
Putin is personally leading the October annual exercise of Russia's nuclear forces this week...note he moved it up to coincide with his invasion. He did also when he invaded Crimea a few years ago when Trump was president and nobody did anything but protest loudly. If This works for Ukraine, I think the Russian military's going to be very busy.
