there was something that brought her back to these islands time and time again. perhaps it was the tickle of nostalgia in her chest, or the crackle of loneliness in her lungs. she didn't find much out on the mainlands. the seasons still came and went, the blank still blank. she had met others on her travels, of course. men that sought to claim her, women who were jealous of her. there were friends and enemies around every bend.

but there was an itch for home, for her family, that would not go away.

perhaps this time it would be strong enough to make her stay.

she moved through the commons gracefully, sweeping down to grab a mouthful of grass before she settled herself under the shade of a large oak tree. the twisted and gnarled branches provided some coverage from the summer heat, but it was not enough to stave off the sweat from her brow. she followed the others fluttering across the meadow, resigned to her watchful perch at the edge before latching her gaze on an approaching figure.
