but darling, what if you fly? open

"Faline?" The call was half-hearted, more grumble than summons, but Roux tried anyway. The same way she'd been trying off and on for months, every time her erstwhile companion disappeared again. She had begun to wonder if this was some twisted game of cat and mouse, where instead of looking for Faline's mother together, Roux was just dooming herself to looking for her sister-friend forever.

This was not the first time she'd ended up on the Crossing in her hunting, but it was the first time she'd ventured so far eastward. She usually stopped at the Falls, as the only things further east from there was the Commons and the Ruins, both of which she highly doubted would entertain Faline. Nor was Titania likely to be found in either place, from what little they knew of her.

But the day was warm and Roux was tired and she found that she didn't particularly care where she was. Years of going unhindered in and out of territories had instilled a false sense of confidence in her own invulnerability. After all, it had been years since the islands had had a "real" villain, especially considering the girl considered the stories of her own sire's villainy to be highly overrated. Rougaru's fierce reputation had been earned, she supposed, but it was just as likely the tales of his cruelty were as realistic as the dreams she had of flying sometimes.

Without further consideration, Roux lowered her svelte frame to a patch of sunny grass and allowed her eyes to shutter closed as the warm late autumn sun soaked into her bones. She wasn't sure how much later it was when the sun on her face abruptly disappeared, leaving a chill in its wake that only a shadow could explain. A cursory inhale told her it wasn't Faline, and so without bothering to open her eyes, she addressed the stranger with mild annoyance. "Move, please. You're in my sun."
