Even though I knew The X was going away from 105.1 in favor of the Hip-Hop/R&B format on 107.3, giving it a stronger signal, I’m a little disappointed they didn’t put the X on the 107.3 frequency.
For one thing it would pay homage to when The X was on 107.3 back in the mid to late 90’s. That was when Alternative first got its moment to shine. For another thing, they could have shifted the format into a gold based Classic Alternative format like 99X Atlanta, a sister station of Cumulus. They could drop the hard rock and 80’s hair band product and it would have had great potential.
Either way, having a simulcast of Power 105 makes no sense unless it’s just filler for a new station to come. I hope they reconsider bringing The X back with a new approach other than Rockternative and more of a Classic Alternative feel. Replies:
