Let's Take a Step Back and Look at Some Facts Posted on December 29, 2023 at 02:22:28 PM by StraymarJA
First, to set the record straight, there was initially a superfecta games 4&7 at the 22-23 Meet and an additional superfecta was added for game 9 on Dec 16.
Now, let's compare average 7-point game versus 9-point game prices and even go a step further by splitting it out to singles vs doubles games. Certainly, the singles prices must be lower than the doubles game prices.
----------------------------------------------
7-point games (singles then doubles prices, followed by combined S&D with total games for each), 23-24 figures are thru Dec-28
I can definitely tell you the low data of only 37 singles games for 9-point super games in the 22-23 meet is skewed by the closing day payoff of $2607 on the 1-5-6 trifecta in the final game of the meet. There was $3476 in the gross trifecta pool, so there was a total of $1 in winning tri wagers.
However, it seems pretty much a myth in the new age of Dania tournament-style games that prices are higher for trifectas in 9-point games.
The 9-point game average trifecta payoff was a whopping 6.9% higher than 7-point game prices for the 22-23 meet, however the data for 23-24 meet shows the 7-point games paying much larger than the 9-point games, a whopping 21.7% higher....and surprisingly, the 7-point singles average trifecta payout is higher than the 7-point doubles average payout. So not a lot of evidence to prove that singles are easier to handicap than doubles games in this new tourney-style era too.
In 9-point games, the harder combos become easier and the easier combos become a bit harder and apparently the bettors are smarter than given credit many times and have apparently figured it out with 9-point games having been around for approx 35-years.
