Despite how odd it was to have her hand kissed she tried to remember that not everybody came from the place she came from. With that she cooled her heels in the sand and tried to smile something friendly. “Hi Blake.” She said as he put a cigarette behind her ear and offered another one up to smoke now. Oh, bonus, he even had a lighter?

“I don’t know how you managed to keep that thing with you, I lost mine two thirds of the way in.” She said while puffing at the cigarette to keep it lit. Small clouds of smoke rose up between them as they stood there for a moment. He asked what she was doing out here and Charlotte could have laughed really hard but didn’t. Instead, she rolled with it like she did most things.

“Oh, you know, just taking a swim.” She said cleverly before sitting down in the sand. At this point she didn’t care if she got dirty, wet, eaten alive, or even saw some scary tentacle monster out in the water colour distance. For awhile she just watched the water and enjoyed the first half of her cigarette in silence. “I don’t know what to think of this place yet.” She mused quietly at last, eyes looking back up at Blake. “How long have you been here?” She wondered, eyes seemingly dark with the retrospect that he’d been there for a long, long time.
