Painted Storm

Black and white stood in sharp contrast of the environment the mare stood in. The desert surrounded her and she stood so still, head held high as her eyes scanned the unmoving land. It was nearly like a painting as nothing moved, time frozen in place. Suddenly the mare bowed her neck and shook her head, pawing out a front leg to throw the sand up against her back legs and belly. Rocking back on her hind legs she spun to the left and began to run. Her tail was held high and flowed out like a banner as it whipped behind her. Her mane flowed out from her neck and her blue eyes shown with a sparkle of mischief and energy that radiated from her. Alone, she displayed the power she keeps hidden from everyone else.

Sand sprayed out behind her as her hooves dug in as she pressed harder and stretched out farther. The run was exhilarating and the faster she went the more the paint mare enjoyed herself. Only when her neck become damp from sweat did she slow to stand still once more. Her nose was flared to draw in the air that filled her lungs to provide her strength. Shaking her head again as her now wild mane lay on both sides of her black and white neck. Zena had not noticed if anyone had watched her display or not but didn�t really care. She had enjoyed herself but now was unsure what to do as the run was now over and she was still alone.
