Let there be fire.

Already with the woman and her child trailing quietly behind him, Badr expertly navigates the rolling sands, no longer lazily dragging his feet or hanging his head, but instead remembering the shortest walk to the nearest oasis- thankfully the larger of the two, as the pair had landed on the northernmost part of the dunes, making it easier to find shelter at the larger oasis.

He does not make small talk as they walk, preferring to make it to the edge of the watering hole as quickly as possible, so as to keep the child from experiencing the brunt of the heat. Badr knows of the fragility of youth, and so, he walks at a steady, quick pace.

It doesn�t take them long at all to reach the large oasis, where the tall grasses reach over the water and there are trees randomly spread throughout the small, heavily vegetated valley. This must have been the only place within the dunes that could easily support a herd, and even then it was very temporary. Come the turn of winter, the winds would pick up and the sands would cover the water, leaving Badr to rediscover another paradise for himself and his herd to find food and water.

Such was the trial of living in the dunes, an ever-changing ocean of sand.

As they reach the oasis, Badr finally stops and turns to the mare, looking her over with dark eyes and offering her the opportunity to locate a shady spot or to get something to drink- anything to satiate her need to briefly escape the heat, and then he would question her. Giving her a few moments to tend to her child and her needs, he finally speaks up. �Why did you come?�
