She was getting the hang of this desert thing.
The sand was pretty endless, but Vesti had begun to figure out where to go and how to move through these lands. There were landmarks if you were smart enough to look for them. The Voice had been right about the need to stretch her legs. Vesti didn’t like the Sea - but she could hear it from a distance.
She knew that the wet sand where the waters crashed would be firmer - she might be able to run. And gods know you need a run, The Voice snapped at her. She pinned her ears as if in an attempt to block the stupid, internal monologue. It was fruitless, she knew. There was nothing she could do to stop the Voice from making an eternal commentary on her actions.
She crested another dune and stopped. There was a new scent on the air - not just the salty taste of the Sea. She knew the Keeper was doing things, but she wasn’t expecting him to bring any others back. After all, why bother with more picky girls.
So why did you even bother to let him up? The Voice chided. Vesti flicked her tail and started down the hill. The sorrel wasn’t going to answer that. Maybe she didn’t know, or maybe the crazed hormones had gotten to her too. After all, the call to breed was strong in girls as well.
In any event, she shortly saw the new horse. She pricked her ears. She hadn’t seen any other girls in the Dunes. She hadn’t even seen Pierce when she’d been here. But she hadn’t minded. The Demon could go rot for all she cared. She snorted and set back down the dune. Time to go be social.
