Fayte had to think about this. It was an offer, an offer that seemed to be alright. At least, for the most part. She knew that most stallions did not approve of the sons of another being in their land. But, Cavier was a different case. He was half blind, after all, and he couldn't be much of a danger...
As if he had heard the conversation, suddenly Cavier broke out of the bushes and ran to her. He buried himself into her chest, his bad eye facing the new stallion. Fayte felt her heart begin to bleed. Pleiades decided to come out as well, her mostly white coat catching light in quite a beautiful way. Fayte was certain her daughter was going to be a heart breaker one day - all the more reason to watch this other stallion.
She sighed, and nuzzled her little boy. Even if he wasn't quite hers. Should she ever find the woman who abandoned him... oh that would be a very nasty thing. She prayed she never would. She looked back to Kieron.
"Big baby," Pleiades said to her her brother. Fayte silenced her with a look. Pleiades' ears went back, her mother's sternness quite something. She knew better than to challenge the woman.
"Kieron," Fayte said. "For now, I will be glad to live here with my children. However, I do wish to talk with you shortly - and alone." She glared over at her children. "Perhaps tomorrow night." Night, of course, was her time. She would need to read his stars. "I will make a decision as to our futures when Cavier comes of age in time. I... I have to think over it."
She dropped her neck and nibbled Cavier's withers. She hoped the stallion would understand. After all, he couldn't ask a mother to make such a choice with no warning. It was hard - just at all.
