Hi Susan,thanks for sharing.It is becoming more commonplace to hear about Mountain Lions in Mass. as well as other N.E. states. I think they've been around for a long time but because of the advancement of technology it's easier for people to share their sightings.It really couldn't be anything else if she knows what a Mountain Lion looks like. A Bobcat has a short bobtail and the coloring is usually darker on a bobcat. A deer has longer legs and a very short tail and no doubt she knows exactly what a deer looks like unless it was too far away for her to get a good look.Mountain Lions have very long tails often almost dragging on the ground and sometimes you can see a black tip.If it came out of the woods onto the road you could maybe look for tracks. There are lots of pics on the web and I think I have spotted pawprints in my yard.The coyotes may be moving in closer because they don't want to be dinner!Leave it alone and it will leave you alone - I think I would be more in fear of the coyotes!Please let us know if you hear/see more!
