Once again, Vesti finds herself adrift. Of course, this time it was not on the Sea. Or rather, the Sea of Water with all it's anger. No, she is once again adrift as she wonders what her life might be. And where it will take her.

Badr has gone.

He has left her. Not that she particularly cared for him. Then again, she does not care for this. She did not choose him - still she can't help but feel as if there is something wrong with her. The Voice whispers it even as she thinks back onto things. She can't afford to listen to it right now though. Instead, she must figure out what she will do. For she has her son to worry about. He would be a yearling soon enough. Badr's lastest run will leave her with another worry. Another life to hang onto.

The sorrel doesn't know what she will do. She doesn't have many options. She can't go anywhere - so she must stay.

Her chestnut son gallops up to her then.

"mother?" He asked, reaching out his muzzle to nuzzle her cheek. "Badr isn't coming back is he?"

Badr. Grai never learned to call the chestnut "father". Though he bore no ill will to the stallion. He simply had never been close enough to him to put the endearment to chestnut. Vesti shook her head.

"No, I don't think so," She said quietly. The colt dropped his head.

"What now?" He asked. Of course he would ask that. Vesti seemed to have all the answers in his mind. She had them this time too. For it was a simple one.

"We survive," She answered. "Come on. Let's see if any of the others are still about." She nickered to him and set off towards the larger oasis over the rolling sands that had been her home for a year now. She knew the paths too well maybe - knowing where to go even in the shifting lands. And her desert-born son was better than she.

The two set off then to find if they were truly alone in this land or if there were others. And of course, Vesti realized when she saw the skeletal palomino and the other boy, there were others. She was glad to not be alone.
