well, the mysterious cardinal killer has been identified.

a red-tailed hawk just banged the window in front of me in an attempt to snag a woodpecker that had been on the suet cage.
it then sat in the spruce tree where i could get a great close-up look at it.

no wonder all the birds around here have been very jumpy lately
