"The crude mortality of man."

VERCINGETORIX
all men are mortal.

Perhaps his concern for the state of the forest was not as widespread as he had thought it to be. He had imagined that the herd was only struggling with keeping together due to the segregation between those that had originally been here and those that had only recently appeared to be taken under the red stallion's protection. He would not had imagined that it would be a problem of numbers, as he had been taught since the beginning of his days that more bodies in a herd meant a better chance of safety.

To say that he was confused and perplexed at the state of disarray in the herd would be a slight understatement. Eventually he would find himself running the mares all together and trying to force them into a group so as to make protecting them easier and to hope that they would eventually overcome their slight differences and do as a herd should.

Instead, he found himself more confused at what Vivianna had to say. Flicking back one ear and furrowing his brows (as best a horse could when a horse has no brows), the stallion looks at her long and hard, trying to formulate just what could be said or done to remedy this. Naturally, he had no answers for himself. On one hand, he could drive out some of the newer members to the herd, but such a thing was unherd of, and he had already promised them his protection and the comfort of the forest for them to live in. On the other hand... what then? Sitting in silence for a few moments, the stallion finally opens his mouth to say one word. “Oh.

For a few moments after that, he begins to wonder what is so wrong with the mare to make her uncomfortable amongst the main body of the herd, and that perhaps she is not entirely mentally stable. Certainly, such flaws were easy to go unnoticed, and Vercingetorix can only think that he has really not been paying so close attention to the herd as he had thought that he was. He had assumed that he was ever vigilante, sitting at the edges of the herd and watching with the eye of an eagle whilst they went about their own business. He had preferred to stay out of their way, allowing the women to do as they pleased while he could come and go and patrol the borders of the forest as he so pleased.

What would you have me do then, Vivianna?” He wants a solution to this problem, one that would insure he did not go back on his promise to the others and one that would allow Vivianna to enjoy motherhood in comfort.
