 it felt right to linger at the edges of the forest like a ghost. Always there, simply watching. It was all she could really do. The ones she got along with in the herd were gone, and she was left with her sickly twin. Yes it was true, Abbott had become ill, sometime overnight her brother had developed a chest rattling cough. She had stood over him and watched him, even as he slept, his body shook with the strains of his breathing. Not every foal is perfect when they are born, and these twins were proof. One born to be silent forever and the other viewing only half the world, yet there are hidden things inside the body that no one can understand. Their mother had only died from giving birth to them because the strain was to much, she had things going on inside her that finally broke her.
nipping at the short strands of mane on her brothers neck she leaves him for a while, glad that he was at least getting some sleep and their trip to the stream earlier had soothed some of the coughing. Now she could only wait and see what would happen with him. She had tucked him away behind a nearby bush, and as she pokes her head out and around it she spies the herd far off in the distance, and surprise surprise, the red dun stallion stood not to far off from where Co was. Was he waiting for her? She had left the group so suddenly, but she hadn't expected him to follow.
She pushes past the trees and the clinging branches. She couldn't go far, not when her brother needed her. Lifting her head, she momentarily forgets her lack of speech until she merely puffs out a silent huff through her spread jaws, which was meant to call him. Her ears lay back. It was a curse she had. Instead of calling now, she stomps at the ground, and again snorts to gain his attention. When he does turn to look at her, she shifts herself so that he does not see her sleeping twin beyond her and the bush.
