The speckled mare's introduction made Nimbus smile just a little bit, but there was something demanding in it. Nimbus looked her in the eyes and tried to appear sane. He did not interrupt the red roan, though. Kahawa's words could not harm Nimbus no matter how hard she tried. The abrupt parting left him indifferent to the world around him. Amour was quite the gentle giant; he wanted only the best for his daughter, but Nimbus still had to drive him away. He didn't want to be a part of the expectations he held, and he could only tolerate one stallion here in the first place. Why him? Though Kahawa vented to the two horses who stood around her, Nimbus could not help but ponder the words that the red speckled mare had said. They echoed in his head. Sweety. Alpha. How peculiar he thought it was to be called such things.
Nimbus was distracted by these things, but there was a bigger issue at hand: what the hell was he doing? Amour was his friend, but he never proved himself as a valuable asset to this herd. He could only handle the testosterone of one other stallion; why should it be him? "Kahawa," Nimbus tried to explain, "I can only handle one other male in this land. I want him to be able to contribute to the group..." This wasn't going well. Nimbus realized that now was not the time to be blunt by saying Amour was useless.
He let out a snort. "Must I justify myself? I know it must not make sense, when Amour did in fact want the best for everyone, but I did not want him living here. I should never have promised him such a position." It was true. It must have seemed like a good idea in the moment, but it was reckless to make wild promises. If another male was going to live here then he should prove himself. He shouldn't have been picked up from the common on the basis of a single conversation. "Please stop crying." He addressed both of them now. "Everything is alright." Clearly he was bad at being reassuring.
