The waves crashed down viciously upon the stallion, throwing his legs out from under him and swallowing him whole. The salt water burned his lungs as he sucked in a lungful, his first instinct to let out a scream. Yet the water had other plans and roughly spit him up on the shore, the rocks tearing at his hide. Coughing and spluttering out the water he had inhaled, Fundamental just lay there. His mane was in tangles, wrapped around his neck and clinging to the rocks at his side. His tail lay wrapped around his back legs, catching in a few rocks as well. His flanks heaved as each breath sawed its way in and out of his nares. Yet slowly the stallion opened his eyes, the grit causing his vision to be blurry. It was more the color of the mare that he saw than her actually shape or face, but it caused him to weakly stand and nearly collapse again.


Blinking a few times, Fundamental tilted his ears towards the mare as she called out knowing he should not show weakness. But how could he show anything else after being chewed up and spit out by the waves? Attempting to stand straighter, to pick his head up higher than his knees he brought the mare more into focus as he concentrated on her harder. What she was saying though made little sense, his jumbled mind not remember anything for her to say that.


“Huh?” not exactly a graceful or dignified answer as his raw throat spit out the raspy word. Yet as he said it everything began to sink in. “I’m not mad at you.” Fundamental tried to explain but the water that still dripped from his nostrils was a bit distracting. The adrenaline was also starting to wear off and his body was beginning to shake uncontrollable as the cold wind began to cut into his skin. A few spots upon his side was also bleeding, the sharp rocks he had been tossed up on had left their biting mark. It had been nothing but stupidity caused by rage, something he hoped to never experience again.
