This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time

wood duck mother and duckling

As they moved in the direction that she had come from, Mera did not simply walk beside the man. Instead her legs raised high in an excited prance as her tail was held like a banner. Head up and ears forward it did not seem like the filly was going to her doom as others might think. Sure, her mother would be angry but Mera knew that it would not be her death. The bay roan woman loved her too much, even if she didn’t act like it sometimes.

“I came from the Shore” she answered without hesitation, tilting her eyes up to look at him. So badly she wanted to dart ahead, to see if he would give chase but instead remained beside him despite her impatient dancing. On his talking went and Mera did her best to pay attention despite her wandering youthful mind. “I’m Mera! Although I think Tide Chaser is cooler.” She replied with a wide smile.

Unable to contain herself anymore, Mera finally let loose of her legs and raced forward. The filly did not go far, her body twisting to cut back to the stallion. She made a circle around him before making a few strides ahead of him once more. It was there that she stopped and looked at him, her tail still held straight up and her eyes bright with joy. It was evident she was enjoying herself and her new found company.

“Esmeralda!”

Stepping away from the palms that lay ahead, Xina trotted towards her daughter. Ears pinned a vicious look was painted across her face. The whites still showed in her eyes, flank and neck damp and air still sawing through her nostrils showed that it was not really anger the mother felt, but fear. Since finding her daughter missing, Xina had raced across the lands attempting to find her daughter and only fearing the worst, that the tides had finally come to claim what was hers.

Not even seeming to notice the stallion, Xina came up to her daughter who had lost that bright and joyous light. Instead she wore a look of pure pathetic innocence that sadly Xina was not falling for. After giving a daughter a quick glance over to see if she was all in one piece, the mare gave the girl a punishing bite causing a squeal to erupt her soft young lips. The pinch had scared the girl more than anything, not even leaving a welt upon her skin. Only now that her daughter was taken care of did Xina turn her attention to the brute.

Locking her eyes upon the man, Xina’s blue and brown gaze took him in for any aggression or threat. She had not been expecting any, but it was always better to double check.

“I’m sorry if my daughter has caused any inconveniences, she will not be doing it again”
