No, the guy wasn't expecting to see them, and was hiking in a remote area. He said 3 to 3.5, and that was confirmed by other means. We have the camera distance and exposure data,, and it confirms the number he gave. It was a couple of weeks ago and the tracks did degrade rapidly. There was only snow in that one spot as well. The location was confirmed by his account of where he was, geotags, and a third party. His other pictures have the view from the spot and distant objects are recognizable. its a cougar track from where he said it was. Normally we would try to go with more people with known size objects, but that wasn't possible in this case due to the degradation.
