just a tidbit here, a researcher has compared modern DNA from cougars in Michigan, (They believe they are native), with ancient DNA from an "eastern cougar". It was a match. Again, New Brunswick and Quebec have also been matched with some of the South Dakota and others. Quebec and/or New Brunswick aren't very far from New England, well within the well known range of a male dispersing cougar. So why is it so shocking that they are in New England? Maybe they respect the US/Canada Border? I think not. There have been credible reports and evidence back to at least 1927, so lets get over it. I've named references for that last post, they aren't made up.
