Just an outline made of skin

As the two had (in Xanti's mind ) properly greeted each other, the grullo had noticed that her breathes were quick and sharp. Either she did not think he was going to approach so soon or perhaps there was another reason Xanti could not figure out in the short amount of time. With so many options of her emotions and how he personally viewed body language, it would take so much longer to guess something correctly than just be able to take a peek in her mind. If only someone was able to do that. Pulling back and continuing to examine her, he wondered exactly what she was thinking right now. Once the thought was in his head, he couldn't seem to get it out again. It was always interesting to see yourself in someone else's eyes. Blinking and tearing himself away from his thoughts, the stallion let his ears press forward harder as she spoke.

At first he was excited to think that more mares were already in the land until she continued her sentence with a twist. A grin spread quickly across his face and he stepped away to toss his mane in amusement. Although the mare looked to be much younger than himself, she was already promising to be good company. He would be sad to see her go too soon. "Very true," he said after controlling himself, the grin barley fading. His black mane now lay ruffled as the low wind had managed to twist it while he had been tossing it into the air. He was too focused on the red dun to even notice it or care. She is soon questioning about his nose, which actually makes him glad that someone had finally noticed it. The few days he had spent getting use to what appeared to be the 'normal' nose made him realize he was much more proud of his face than embarrassed by it. Here he was in a new land with a different nose and a somewhat rare color. Most of the horses he saw were black or bay or this pale color that made them all look like close siblings. The only thing different were the breeds and the height, but he had started to get use to that was well.

Xanti lifted his head just a bit up as though to display his profile better. It was already quite noticeable, but due to the reactions horses had not given him, he was concerned. Perhaps it was not as rare as he thought, but then why had he not seen anyone else who had shared his breed and face? "It's big, isn't it?" If possible, the darkish stallion's grin had grown bigger. He appreciated her compliment, but he was much too adsorbed in trying to describe his old home to her. His head had lowered back to its original height and rested his hind hoof on its tip. "I come from a desert across the ocean. A little ways from there is a grassy plain where I spent most of my life; it's filled with my breed and my family." His mind avoided memories that threatened to flood him. He managed to keep a smile on his face without much difficulty but the grin had already been lost as he was attempting to place his home into phrases for the mare. "You'd have to see it to get the full picture. My home is not something you can easily put into words."

The grullo's grin returned in a full flourish and soon he was questioning her. "What about you? Were you born here or did you swim across the ocean?" He doubted that she had swam across the ocean like he had, but perhaps there was another shorter way some of the younger horses took. Or ponies, he hoped there would be some as short as the two were on these islands. It would only be a matter of time before he was forced to build of herd of taller horses. Flaring his nostrils to take in her scent, Xanti continued. "What was your home like?" Whether she had been born at these islands or had come from some far off place, the Sorraia was interested in what her experiences had been like in her home. He knew there was a mountain near his old home, but he had never gone to see it. Perhaps she would have some wonderful new land to share with him.
