chew my love under your tongue

JOSH

I can't help but feel proud when I look at Josh. He'd been through so much in his short life and still managed to turn out alright. I was hoping maybe this place would finally work out for once, maybe he'd settle down here, make a home for himself. Only time would tell.

Josh was grateful for his thick winter coat as the ocean breeze ran her ice-cold fingertips over him, tousling his long fur and knotting strands that are seemingly dip-dyed blonde. The thick draft blood coursing through Josh's veins aided with the keeping of warmth. Josh was ideal for this sort of territory, he felt, a hardier variety than most. Josh was more worried about the ladies that, hopefully, would occupy these lands in the near future. He knew cold could be unforgiving, he'd seen the tips of ears lost before. Seen what it could do to the old, the young, the sickly. Josh shuddered, flesh rippling beneath his darkened coat. Josh wondered what he'd done to deserve such frequent dark, disturbing thoughts. I just looked on sadly.

Josh was a top a cliff-like formation in the land carved out by millions of liters of water. It allowed him to view far out into the sea. Josh had always been fascinated by water, he could watch the lazy pull of the tide for hours. Back and forth, back and forth, it was almost hyponotizing for the thoroughbred mix. It soothed him, allowed him to escape the somber thoughts that lurked around ever corner.

Josh's gold flecked eyes snap towards something in the ocean. A horse. 'Why?' Josh questioned, the water was cripplingly cold, Josh knew this, he was confused as to how this other horse didn't. Even a few minutes in there could prove to be fatal. A frown twisted his bronzed lips and the stallion wheeled around, muscles sliding over bone with ease, Josh picked up a hurried trot down towards the shore. His protective nature kicking in.

'A fool.' Josh's inner monologue told him. He'd gotten crankier on his journey down to the shore. He prepared himself to chew this individual out, whomever they may be. It was an idiot mistake to make at this time of year, swimming across those waters. Josh snorted, vapors rising into his field of vision. He'd forgotten what anger felt like. Apparently, fortunately for this newcomer before him, Josh had forgotten what shock felt like. The anger melted away from him, leaving him with only regret, 'What a terrible person I am...' Josh though as his eyes glance upon this creatures frame for the first time. It'd evident they're freezing cold and as Josh's tan ears tip forwards, he hears the chatter of teeth. Josh breaks into a canter, hooves striking the damp sand with urgency. He wasn't sure how long he had until bad things began to happen due to cold.

As he reached the other creature, whom Josh had assumed to be female due to her small stature, he whickers gently, slowing himself down to a walk. His eyes comb over her form. Already a coat of ice is beginning to form over her frame. Josh's protective nature takes over and suddenly his body is against her's, Blackened barrel pressing against her's. He attempts drapes his neck over her own, trying to get as much body contact as possible. "This would be so much easier if you laid down." as the words fall out from his mouth, Josh realizes that what he's doing might be scaring the crap out of the champagne mare, but in his mind, he's just doing what needs to be done. If she wants to kick him when she's no longer in danger, so be it.

Josh struggles a bit with being a foot taller than the being he is trying to warm but he does what he can.

'Thought.' "Speech."
