THERE IS NO WHY.

The swim from the Commons was not particularly arduous for K1A1. Her legs were strong, her hooves wide, and her stamina great. She emerged from the frigid ocean and plod up the beach slowly, her coat wet and gleaming in the afternoon sun. She was a rather impressive sight to behold, though she hardly valued traits like beauty. For K1A1, importance lay only in maintaining peak physical condition. Beauty was merely a side effect.

Examining the shoreline, she arrived at the conclusion that Dögun had not yet arrived. In fact, she noticed no hoofprints of any sort present along the beach, and the air was stale with the absence of life. It appeared that the Inlet had been devoid of occupants for some time. No matter. Now it belonged to Dögun, and this would last for as long as it was meant to.

Propping her hind hoof up, K1A1 kept her steely gaze fastened on the ocean, watching for any sign of an equine head bobbing among the whitecaps. Waiting, but never impatient.
