FROM THE OCEAN SHE RISES

Ears flick forwards as the black mare offers to run with her once her foal has arrived and is a little older. She supposed, by then, it could either run with them or would be happy to be left with the other foals while the grownups play as well. She nods simply in response, ”I will hold you to that.”.

Azazel continues, offering the buckskin woman a spot on the ground beside her which causes the slightest of amused smiles to flicker over her ashen lips. Though she’d have betted she looked less miserable than she felt, Azazel’s look of sympathy and concerned words would suggest otherwise. Jörmungandr is happy enough to remain where she is, she had had a lie down earlier in the morning and can’t be bothered with the hassle of getting up or down again. Everything seems to have become such a chore now and it is beginning to annoy her. She’d made her bed though and she’ll lie in it. Soon her inconvenience will be rewarded. That’s what she tells herself to get through the day anyway.

Lyden chimed in with a similar offer, only to lay between them. Who would stand guard then she wonders. She addresses both of them, friendly, though perhaps a little curtly, ”I am more than happy where I am, thank you.”. She twists her head to eye her swollen barrel, nipping at it as she added with a laugh ”Do I really look so large that I could not get up?”. While she may silently joke to herself that she couldn’t get back up, her situation is not nearly so dire – well, not unless she had to get up in a hurry.

The conversation turns Lyden and how long he has been in the forest, though Jörmungandr wonders more about the how than how long. It seems she does not need to ask however and the painted stallion answers her unasked question anyway. He’d been seeking a home for Skylar to give birth. She wonders if the mare had done a disappearing act then too. ”It is lucky for you, I would not want to be anywhere else” she answers in a light tone when asked if she liked the forest. Though she probably would have followed the pale stallion regardless, the mention of her family home had been the thing that swayed her so rapidly. If not for the forest, she would surely have prolonged agreeing to his offer of a home.

Her love and knowledge of the forest did not go unnoticed. A playful smile finds her lips at Lyden’s question and her blue eyes dance mischievously, ”Mmmm, it would not be a secret if I let you in on it”.
